چکیده

We present a type-based analysis for role-based multiparty interaction. Novel to our approach are the notions that a role specified in a protocol may be carried out by several parties, and that one party may assume different roles at different stages of the protocol. We build on Conversation Types by adding roles to protocol specifications. Systems are modeled in π-calculus extended with labeled communication and role annotations. The main result shows that well-typed systems follow the role-based protocols prescribed by the types, addressing systems where roles have dynamic distributed implementations.

Multiparty Session Types, Beyond Duality (Abstract)

Multiparty Session Types (MPST) are a well-established typing discipline for message-passing processes interacting on sessions involving two or more participants. Session typing can ensure desirable properties: absence of communication errors and deadlocks, and protocol conformance. However, existing MPST works provide a subject reduction result that is arguably (and sometimes, surprisingly) re...

Synthesising Choreographies from Local Session Types (extended version)

Designing and analysing multiparty distributed interactions can be achieved either by means of a global view (e.g. in choreography-based approaches) or by composing available computational entities (e.g. in service orchestration). This paper proposes a typing systems which allows, under some conditions, to synthesise a choreography (i.e. a multiparty global type) from a set of local session typ...

A Multiparty Multi-session Logic

Recent work on the enhancement of typing techniques for multiparty sessions with logical annotations enables, not only the validation of structural properties of the conversations and on the sorts of the messages, but also properties on the actual values exchanged. However, specification and verification of mutual effects of multiple cross-session interactions are still an open problem. We intr...

Dynamic Roles in Multiparty Communicating Systems

Communication protocols in distributed systems often specify the roles of the parties involved in the communications, namely for enforcing security policies or task assignment purposes. Ensuring that implementations follow role-based protocol specifications is challenging, especially in scenarios found, e.g., in business processes and web applications, where multiple peers are involved, single ...

Timed Multiparty Session Types

We propose a typing theory, based on multiparty session types, for modular verification of real-time choreographic interactions. To model real-time implementations, we introduce a simple calculus with delays and a decidable static proof system. The proof system with time constraints ensures type safety and time-error freedom, namely processes respect the prescribed timing and causalities betwee...
